Caitlyn has been involved in the Scouting movement since she was 14 years old after discovering the incredible opportunities that Scouting offers youth. Since the age of 7, and during her first 3 years of Venturers, she was a member of Girl Guides of Canada and has been recognized with the Chief Commissioners Gold Award and the Queen’s Venturer Scout Award. In her time with Scouting, she has been both a Cub and Beaver Scouter, and of course a Venturer and a Rover with the 1st Yennadon Scout Group.

Caitlyn has also taken on the role of Area Youth Commissioner for Three Rivers Area, and Council Youth Commissioner for the Fraser Valley Council. Before becoming CYC, Caitlyn was the Area Commissioner for Three Rivers at only 18 years of age. During this time she supported Scouting to grow in the Area and developed a team of individuals focused on youth involvement and supporting Scouters. She has been to PJ in 2011 as an Offer of Service and PJ in 2015. Caitlyn also had the exciting opportunity to attend the Commonwealth Scout Forum in London in 2012 and meet with Scouts from all over the world.

In her educational pursuits, Caitlyn has travelled down a few paths and has decided that teaching is where her passion lies. Specifically, she wants to teach High School Physical Education because she believes in the power of teaching young people to be active and understands the positive impact it can have on lives. Before opting to teach PE, she took many courses in child psychology and development. Caitlyn loves to read, play and coach volleyball and can solve a Rubik’s Cube.
