The David Huestis Learning Centre (DHLC) is Scouts Canada's second Learning Management System (LMS). Originally launched in August of 2014, the LMS has been open to all members through MyScouts.

History

Scouts Canada launched its first LMS in 2009 and since then, 30,000 Wood Badge 1 courses were completed online. The organization's training needs grew since then and in order to provide better quality training, Scouts Canada sought out the assistance of Telus to create a new LMS. This was made possible as a result of David Huestis, the sponsor of our Learning Centre.

A portion of the training offered through the DHLC was outsourced to Respect Group in 2016. Scouts Canada adopted the Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders training that has been developed by Respect Group, a Canadian leader in youth safety and abuse prevention training. Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders is designed to make good people better by empowering Scouters to identify and prevent bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination behaviors. This training replaces Scouts Canada’s Child and Youth Safety (CYS) Training for Volunteers.[1]
