Scouts Canada is dedicated to developing good leaders.

For adult volunteers, there is the Wood Badge Part I and Wood Badge Part II training. Wood Badge Part I training is available on-line at www.scouts.ca/elearn and required for all leaders within their first year of leadership. Wood Badge Part II training is advanced leadership training. It is recommended that leaders have a minimum of two years of section experience and the Wood Badge Part I in that section prior to attending Wood Badge Part II training, although leaders with less section experience can attend Wood Badge Part II training at the discretion of their Group Commissioner.

For youth, there is the opportunity to serve in a younger section as Kim or Keeo. Many of the badges also focus on developing leadership skills.
