Leadership Development
Scouts Canada is dedicated to developing good leaders at all levels of the organization.
For youth, there is the opportunity to serve in a younger section as Kim, Keeo, Activity Leader, or Scouter-in-Training. Many of the badges also focus on developing leadership skills.
- The National Youth Network has also developed youth training programs such as FLEX for Cub Scouts, FAST for Scouts, and FOCUS for Venturer Scouts.
For adult volunteers, there is Wood Badge training. Wood Badge Part I training is required for all leaders within their first year of leadership. Wood Badge Part II training is advanced leadership skills and it is recommended that leaders have Wood Badge Part I in that section and a minimum of two years of section experience prior to attending Wood Badge Part II training. Leaders with less section experience can attend Wood Badge Part II training at the discretion of their Group Commissioner.
